Last Update: 12/18/08
The Warning
Microsoft has issued a warning that there are security flaws in versions of the Windows Explorer browser. This warning mostly concerns Internet Explorer 7.
The Flaw
The flaw allows hackers to take control of personal computers via hacked websites. Hackers then gain access to your personal data and files. It is estimated that at least 10,000 sites have already been hacked using this flaw and the number is growing. Investigations are ongoing and analysts say that the majority of the attacks originate in China. There primary objective has been to obtain username and passwords.
The Culprits
Two of the trojans indefied so far are "Win32/VB.IQ.dr" and "Win32/VB.IQ".
Save Yourself
For piece of mind I suggest to switch to browsers such as Opera, Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari.
